This pipe sculpture is a visual representation of the nearby intersection of the Greenwich Meridian with the 45th parallel. Believed to have been erected in around 2010 (but without any accompanying sign to say what it is), it is understood to be a temporary structure pending the possible creation of a more permanent marking at the actual point of intersection to its west (see next mark south).
