This, the oldest of Iford’s various Meridian marks, dates from the Meridian’s ‘centenary’ in 1984. Following its unveiling by the chairman of the district on 26 June (Meridian Day), a children’s tug of war took place across the Line in the road in front of it. Behind it (to the south) a turkey oak surrounded by protective railings stands on the Meridian in the middle of a field.
