The Iford Parish Meeting (the parish council) were awarded £1,764 by the Millennium Commission, whose web-site reports that with the money: ‘The group hosted a Millennium village fete and sports day and installed a Millennium sundial on the Meridian line running through the village. The award funded venue and facilities hire, sports equipment, village photo album, materials for sundial, and costumes for the pageant’. The sundial which carries the date July 2001 (but no maker’s name) is mounted on the south facing wall of the village hall (built in 1931) ... and as it turns out, is somewhat to the west of the Meridian.
