Iford seems to enjoy marking not only the Meridian, but also royal anniversaries. According to a rather later sign, this tulip tree (liriodendron tulipifera) in the grounds of the village hall was planted in June 2002 to commemorate the Queen’s Golden Jubilee. Given its location its position may well have been selected to be on the Meridian.
