Although a celebration bonfire was lit (by the Chairman of Epping Forest District Council) on the Meridian here at Gilwell Park on 13 October 1984 as part of the ‘centenary celebrations’, there does not appear to have been a permanent marking until much later. It is suspected that the plaque was erected around the time of the millennium and was certainly here by 2004. The plaque and post on which it stood was moved to a new location roughly 37 metres to the north-east in around 2015–16.
