At the Parish Council meeting on 27 June 2000, it was agreed to erect a ‘suitable marker post with brass plaque at the Meridian’ – presumably at one or other of the two points it crossed on the newly created Millennium footpath. The footpath, which was first proposed in 1998, was officially opened during the Hardwick Millennium Celebration weekend, on Sunday 2 July 2000. This map, showing its path was positioned at the centre of the village outside the church. We have been unable to locate a marker post and the village website makes no reference to it, suggesting either: that it was never erected or that it was subsequently removed. If you have any further information, please let us know. Meridian Close was created in 2006 where the path crosses the Meridian on the northern side of the village.
