The minutes of the Parish Council meeting held on 7 November 2000 state that: ‘Cllr Williamson had received a comment that the marker was not in the right place [it is too far to the east]. Cllr Johnson commented that on the day the meridian was measured and the day the stone was set down would be different, so a 20-metre difference was good.’ … so that’s all right then!
