Was it or wasn’t it deliberately planted on the line? No documentary evidence has been unearthed as such, but Bluntisham has long been aware of its position on the Meridian. As long ago as 1953, a wooden shelter in the village carried the words ‘Long. 0º 00’ 32” E’. Either way, it is a splendid tree, and standing as it is in this elevated position overlooking the River Great Ouse, it is visible for miles around.
