In 1953, the Borough Surveyor made enquires of both the Astronomer Royal and the Ordnance Survey in order to determine the precise path of the Meridian for a possible Meridian marking. The reply was less than straightforward, and no specific mark appears to have been erected. Possibly the council hedged its bets by creating Meridian Road (running in a roughly east-west direction) instead. If you know either when Meridian Road was built, or about a possible 1953 marking in Boston, please let us know.
