Although no documentary evidence survives, the post was probably erected by the Millennium Tree Line project on 24 February 1998 – the same day that similar posts were erected at Snipe Dales to the north and tree plantings took place at East Kirby to the south. A second post was erected on the other side of the road. This post is now missing.
