The Millennium Tree Line (MTL) project made a preliminary visit to Snipe Dales on 18 December 1997. Topics discussed with the warden included the possible erection of a ‘Meridian Stone’ (this happened in 2000) and the possible future felling of some of the corsican pines and their replacement with a line of oaks to ‘produce a distinct line for the future’. In the event, no planting appears to have taken place. The only MTL related activity appears to have been the erection on 24 February 1998 of a number of posts, each of which carried a distinctive green MTL disc.
